This system enables qualified individuals to enter Germany initially and secure a job later, without requiring a pre-arranged employment contract.

Who can apply for the Chancenkarte, Germany’s Opportunity Card?

1. Language Skills: You must have basic German (A1) or intermediate English (B2) language proficiency, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

2. Education Qualifications: You should have completed at least two years of vocational training or hold a foreign degree or professional credential recognized in Germany.

3. Evidence of Financial Stability: Applicants must demonstrate their ability to cover their living expenses while in Germany. As of 2024, this means having at least €1,027 per month, typically demonstrated through a blocked account or other financial documentation.

4. Points-Based System: You can still apply even if your qualifications are not yet accepted if you receive at least six points from the following:

1. Educational background
2. Work experience
3. Age
4. Language proficiency (German/English)
5. Previous stays in Germany
6. Spouse qualifications (see below for points table)

Note: If you have a recognized vocational qualification in Germany, you can skip the points system and apply directly for the Germany Opportunity Card as a skilled worker. You’ll still need to show language skills and financial proof.

How to apply for the Germany Opportunity Card?
