Over the years, Maven Consulting Services has facilitated in the admission process of many students who chose to study in Germany. While many of our current students are in Germany, we are happy to hear of the seamless vaccination process for Indian students that currently hold a valid German Resident Permit and visa.

Indian students studying abroad in Germany can be voluntarily vaccinated without nationality concerns. Students are encouraged to protect themselves from the deadly global pandemic of Covid-19 and secure a slot to be vaccinated as soon as possible. Remember getting vaccinated is completely voluntary and your university or government will not force you to get vaccinated. Currently, Germany has a priority list of people who can be vaccinated. This list includes people graded by age, people with underlying medical conditions and people according to the jobs that they due. The German Health Minister said that the priority list should be lifted by 7 June 2021. This will allow people from the ages of 16 upwards to be eligible for the vaccine.

Statistics in Germany show that at least 37% of the population has received the first dose of vaccine and 11% of the population have been fully vaccinated so far.

After 7 June 2021, Indian students studying abroad can contact their local vaccination centres or via your Doctor. Indian students can also apply via the official website www.impfterminservice.de/impftermineermine.

While vaccinations are free of charge, Indian student who have German Health Insurance can contact their health brokers to check if vaccines are covered at private doctor’s rooms.  All vaccines used in Germany are currently approved by the European Union. These vaccines are AstraZeneca (this is offered in India as well), BioNTech-Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson. Indian students studying in German with a valid residential permit can choose the vaccine you want, taking into consideration the availability of the vaccine.  The Johnson & Johnson is a single shot vaccine while the others are a two shot vaccine. You will need to return to the same vaccine centre or doctor’s practise to receive your second dose of vaccine as scheduled. The centre will provide you with the second date. You are advised to note the date down and return accordingly.

The World Health Organisation recognises a yellow booklet called the Vaccination Pass. Students will receive this with the date, time, place and name of vaccine received. Keep this booklet safely as it is valid in any country across the globe.

According to official health statistics in Germany, 660 082 vaccinations are done every day, allowing 8 people to be vaccinated every second.  Currently the top three cities with the highest percentage of vaccinated people are Saarland with 45.2%, North Rhine-Westphalia with 44.2% and Bremen with 43.3%.

Indian students studying in Germany must take care to understand their medical conditions and advise their doctor or vaccination centre before taking any vaccine.

While the vaccine is there to protect us, it does not completely shield us from Covid-19. Indian students in Germany must ensure they continue to wear their mask, sanitise or wash hands and social distance.

Maven Consulting Services encourage students to remain safe and continue towards excellence in academics.
